According to their OHP and muzie page, the story of CROSS (クロス) began on a cold winter's night in February 2003.
Vocalist MARIA (マリア) was performing on a street in Kichijouji (吉祥寺) with his karaoke machine and amplifier, singing X JAPAN songs. GAMI, who had begun playing acoustic guitar about two weeks prior, happened upon him and spontaneously began playing along.
MARIA (マリア) and GAMI gave impromptu performances this way on the street for about two weeks. They were finally broken up one night by police, and headed to a karaoke bar to finish out the night. MARIA (マリア) expressed that he wanted to sing original songs but couldn't compose, and so GAMI composed a song for him on the spot.
In August of that year, the pair officially formed their acoustic visual kei unit, CROSS (クロス). The name was inspired by the fact that “two people from worlds that never intersect—cute visual kei and acoustic music—had crossed paths.”
Acoustic visual kei unit CROSS (クロス) forms.
