Kiryu (己龍) have announced an end to their activities.
Sad news Kiryu (己龍) fans -- band has announced that they will be going on an indefinite hiatus after their 16 anniversary event on December 18th. The band has been putting out material near constantly since their inception back in 2007, and have become second generation wafuu-kei (Japanese-style) front-runners after achieving massive success since signing with B.P.RECORDS.
The band has put out 28 maxi-singles, 6 albums, and several DVDs. To describe the band as "prolific" would be putting it lightly. They even performed at Nippon Budokan (日本武道館), one of the largest venues in Tokyo, multiple times.

I'm pretty bummed about the news. Kiryu and D both going on hiatus this year?? I'm like, what active bands do I even listen to anymore besides the occasional old fart coming out of retirement to do a one off project or something. Curious if they are going to cash in and release a Best Of or some sort of merch. Kiryu usually has fun merch and I'm ready to go feral on it lmao.
Mitsuki seems like a lifer so I'm hoping we get a project, new band or something outta him after Kiryu's hiatus.

I am happy they are taking a break to recharge, but I really hope they don't actually disband. They have been one of my favorite bands for a long time, so it would be very sad to see them disband.

Approve Edit Restrict Delete Lock threadThere's a chance they may, since there are a lot of bands their popularity and bigger which did something similar and returned (12012, Nightmare, An Cafe, DuelJewel, Versailles, Ayabie, etc), but for now we just have to wait and see.
